Proxmox Server Setup for Small Businesses, Home Offices and Home Labs
Run your websites, apps, files and backups on servers you own. ONLINEid.ca plans, installs and looks after Proxmox VE servers and clusters for businesses in Innisfil, Barrie, Simcoe County and the Greater Toronto Area.
What We Set Up
One server or a whole cluster, new hardware or the computers you already have. Every setup is planned around what your business needs to run.
Proxmox VE Installation
A clean install of Proxmox Virtual Environment, the free and open-source server platform, with updates, time, storage and networking set up properly from day one.
Proxmox Clusters
Join several machines into one cluster you manage from a single web page, then move containers and virtual machines between them when you need to.
Backups That Keep You Running
Scheduled backups with Proxmox Backup Server, set up so your websites stay online while they are copied, and so a restore is a few clicks away.
NAS to Proxmox Migration
Moving from an old NAS such as TrueNAS? We plan the move, take a backup first, keep your existing storage pools where possible and retire the drives that are past their best.
Self-Hosted Websites and Apps
Your WordPress sites, web apps and tools in their own containers or virtual machines, behind a proxy, with the resources each one needs.
Local AI on Your Own Hardware
Graphics card passthrough for local AI, so models and assistants can run on a machine you control instead of a paid cloud service.
How It Works
Clear steps, plain language, and no surprises on the bill.
Free Consultation
We look at what you run today, what you want to run, and the hardware you already have.
A Plan and a Quote
You get a written plan and a price before anything is touched. Setups start from $500, hardware not included, and we can advise on what to buy.
Install and Move In
We install Proxmox, move your sites and data across with backups in place, and check that everything answers before we call it done.
Handover and Care
You get a simple run-book. We can also keep it updated and backed up for you as part of hosting and maintenance.
We Run Our Own Business on Proxmox
ONLINEid.ca does not just recommend Proxmox, we use it every day. Our websites, client sites and our A.I. answering line run on a Proxmox cluster we built from a mix of small low-power machines, a repurposed NAS and a new workstation with a graphics card for local AI.
That means the setup we offer you is the one we trust with our own business: tested backups, careful upgrades and moves done without losing data. Read how we built it, step by step.
Proxmox Setup: Common Questions
What is Proxmox VE?
Proxmox Virtual Environment is a free, open-source platform for running virtual machines and containers on your own servers. It is managed from a web browser and can join several machines into one cluster.
How much does a Proxmox server setup cost?
A Proxmox setup with ONLINEid.ca starts from $500, hardware not included. Larger jobs, such as clusters, NAS migrations or backup servers, are quoted after the free consultation.
Do you supply the hardware?
Hardware is not included in the price. We can advise on what to buy, or set Proxmox up on computers you already own, including older desktops and NAS boxes.
Can you move my old NAS or TrueNAS box to Proxmox?
Yes. We check the health of every drive, take a backup first, and where possible bring your existing ZFS storage pool across instead of starting over.
Will my websites go offline during backups?
Not with the way we set backups up. Proxmox can back up containers and virtual machines while they keep running, so your sites stay online.
Can Proxmox run local AI?
Yes. With a suitable graphics card, we can pass the card through to a virtual machine so AI models run on your own hardware.
Which areas do you serve?
Innisfil, Alcona, Lefroy, Cookstown, Barrie, Bradford West Gwillimbury, Orillia, Newmarket, Aurora, Toronto and the rest of Simcoe County and the GTA.
